hit the beach
Well, a great day for a drive even though on Saturday night my brother instigated a hangover that was set to last into late morning.
So we saddled up the buggy with bathers, tools and spares and hit the beach (then let the tyres down to the obligatory 3.5lb.
Found somewhere nice and secluded for a swim,
Visited the now pond (used to be track) where I cam unstuck last year. A new track has been set across the creek so the old section isn’t used
anymore. After I came to grief in it the word around town is that it claimed at least a diesel hilux and something else. Haha
It the dunes for a fang. Wind was up and while parked the wind was sculpting a hollow/undermining the tyres so that little by little the buggy was
moving backwards.
Then while heading out of the dunes toward the beach again, you have to get across like 500m of jagged limestone. Even with “flat” tyres, theres
no probs (has anyone punctured a trye on a light swb buggy, seems to me to be unlikely, which is good cause like most, I don’t have a spare).
Then head toward the fishing shack for a beer and a look around but find more water….
Check it and its only knee deep so getting across was a walk in the park.
Get to the shack no probs. Apart from the bullants running on my arm and leg; brushed off a shub as I nosed past…No one camping.
Then turn it round and head home. 200km done on the day with no probs. Got a seal of approval on the way home.

Well…
1.75kg of sand later and I think I have most of it. I’m glad I atleast had the roof on. Imagine how much I wouldhave got totally open.
not wanting to start the age old argument again but that is at least one good point up that bajas have. Bajas can wind the windows up and limit sand
ingress. In a buggy, you just have to wear it. haha
