I'm no mechanic but white smoke sounds bad to me.
If it was black smoke then you could say you are just running rich. I think it may be time for a compression test.

I will say all is cool
plumes of WHITE smoke usually suggests unburnt fuel being burnt off.
The fact you say you got all 4 going again sounds like you had a cylinder collecting petrol.
Had exactly this prob once with a dead spark plug.
Petrol being pumped into a cylinder and being unburnt.
When i changed the spark plug big plume of WHITE smoke that finally cleared and all was well
Black smoke - rich
Blue / grey - oil
White - unburnt fuel

check you haven't got to much oil in it. this will get blown out of the breather and if that is connected to the air cleaner as standard, it will
burn white.

Is it coming from the exhaust or from the engine breather? If it's coming from the exhaust-you are sucking oil from somewhere into the intake system.I
don't know anything about stickshift autos-do they use normal gear oil or an auto trans type fluid? Does it use a vacuum modulator of any sort that
has a hose connected to the inlet manifold? On early cars using a modulator-if the diaphragm got pin holed, they would suck auto fluid into the intake,
giving white smoke out the exhaust.Could also have something to do with its high idle speed.Food for thought.

there is a vaccume hose running from the inlet manifold to the control valve for the auto stick..
but the fact that all 4 are running now could suggest unburnt fuel.. especially since i have the over jetted weber.. i'll needa fill him up
thismorning, and i'll be taking him to APVWC this arvo, for them to tune the lot up and look at the auto (i cannot select reverse)
i dont think i will worry to much.. i have done enough of that this week..
thanks guys

If its WHITE smoke then your burning Auto Trans fluid so its sucking from the gearbox probally the modulator
unburnt fuel burns black

had a look, and everything looks fine in there to me..except no hose to the vac advance on the dissy..
just took it round the block, and then up to wellington Rd to get petrol.. not a long drive, but there was no white smoke.. on the way home i got him
up to about 80, and still no smoke...just that chahfy shit, that i always had on start-up - the unburnt fuel i assume.. its going into the shop today
for a dyno tune, and now to look at the auto stick.. reverse does not work at all.. all 3 forward gears are fine.

was it only running on 2 or 3 cylinders before??
Black some refers to a rich motor - not unburnt fuel
"just that chahfy shit, that i always had on start-up - the unburnt fuel i assume"
You mean you blow a little smoke on start up??
THAT could be oil seeping in
If it was just the one big cloud after the leads were replaced i will stand by my quote
Anyway....
keep us informed
