info about interchangable panels and pans (come all)
hi, just enquiring,
semi auto pans, now can the semi auto gear be removed and standard manual gear be thrown in easily?
another Question. Can panels cut out of a 69' semi auto beetle (Ball joint and IRS) be put on a 67' ( K & L swinger) over the rust areas. IE: Like
the A pillars, or the metal between the windscreen and bonnet.
Thanx all,
cheers,
chris.

The shape, size and design of most parts are different between pre 68 K&L swing axle 6V small window beetles and 68 onwards BJ, IRS, big window,
12V.
The windscreen panel is a different shape, all panels are different, all windows are different. You can however cut off front and rear pans/ clips and
weld on later or newer ones, which then allow newer/ older bonnets and decklids to be used, along with newer/ older fenders and bumpers.
A pillars sections? Well that I don't know for sure, however the heater channels are different. Someone will be able to answer whether the number and
placement of door hinge screws is the same.

Yes auto pans can be converted to manual - been done dozens of times - U need to fit a clutch tube chopped out of a manual pan... and the pedals, of
course. And then the gearbox mounts as per S or L-Bug
Early shells can fit late pans - been done dozens of times, too - the body/chassis bolt bracket inside the rear wheel arches must be shortened on the
body. Relatively easy!
