Trigger shifter

I picked up a neat chrome trigger shifter (empi?) from a kombi at a local wrecker... I replaced the standard shifter in my 74 bay but cannot select reverse???

Anybody got any hints or experience with these shifters?

Thanks

G'day marvin,

Is the trigger lifting the locking bar at the bottom? Might be that the wire is stretched or broken. I used a section of accelerator cable (single strand) to replace mine and has been going strong in a daily driver for 5 years since.

Cheers, Ian.

The trigger on my Empi short shift was not working so I undid the nut under the plate and screwed the trigger " T " handle down until it locked up on the shaft it's been working great ever since.

Marvin,
When you've got the shifter in your hand, can you pull the trigger and move it into reverse position?, is then I can't see any reason why it doesn't work, might just be trial ond error adjusting.
Cheers, Ian.
