clutch adjustment
Sounds like a udimentary question, but how do you establish the freeplay of your clutch pedal when I feel no real definate transistion from
"freeplay" to "disengaging"?

there "should" be movement where the pedal moves (20mm) before the throw out bearing touches the the pressure plate

I just adjust mine so i have free play and i like the disengaging point... is this bad? how far up the pedal movement is your(anypne) engagement
point?

If it is too tight the throw out bearing could be rubbing all the time
too loose and you wont properly depress the fingers of the pressure plate

I tried something yesterday - instead of pressing the clutch pedal on the rubber pad (where you normally do) use your toes (with a shoe on) and press
the pedal halfway down the shaft. This helps to tell you more accurately where the throw out bearing touches the pressure plate a but easier.....

yea, i can feel where teh throwout bearing hits and then i just adjust so it isnt rubbing and so the engagement point is too high (i find i have less
clutch control at top of throw). If i start to have a bit of trouble getting into first from stationary then i tighten the clutch cable a bit but i
can usually tell because the engagement point starts to drop down lower to the floor.
be carefull that you dont over tighten your clutch cable... a few people on here have done that and the throw out bearing poped off the sliding tube
bit and then they have to take the whole engine out and probably need to replace a few bits like pressure plate etc.
