THE QUESTION SHOULD BE HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY FOR IT.

What model? (panel kombi?). How complete? Tail lights there? Bumpers there? Seats? Dash instruments? 16 inch wheels? Front floor mat? How rusty?

Are you asking what's a fair price or how cheap might you be able to get it for?

*Taking all the above into account * If the owner's not into VWs and unaware of market values you could offer a grand and see how you go (always risky if they think/know its worth more).

If its reasonably complete and not too rusty (normal resto would engine lid carrier panel, outriggers, rockers, floors cargo and front, front valance) I reckon $5k would be a very fair price for buyer and seller.

Depends on whether you really WANT it or just want it if its a good price I guess.
