EJ22 with a blower ?
My mates just picked a blower kit up and doing the install now .
so how would you say a blower would go on a ej20 T motor ( less turbo )

I would say use both. Blower for low revs, turbo for hi revs. :thumb

Someone at the hillclimb is building an old formula J open wheeler for hillclimb with a 2.0 Subi single cam engine with a 471 blower with mech

Many years ago Bill Oakey built a Drag Race motor that was both Turbo'd and Supercharged and ran on Methanol. It was a Keith Black Hemi with four (I
think) turbos piped into a GM Blower. I can't remember the size of the blower. Reports at the time said it had similar power to a Nitro motor but he
couldn't find Turbos that would last. Seems the exhaust pressure was too great for the impellors and they kept failing. I don't think he ever
managed a full pass, the Turbos would fail on the step of the throttle. Actually there was/is a Torana doing the rounds of the car shows that is both
Turbo'd/Supercharged, complicated looking plumbing!

I could never see the point in a turbo and blower setup, a suitable supercharger wont excactly run out of puff at high rpm.
testing 1 2 3...

there was a 13bT mazda 323 in Zoom last year with both blower and turbo. he ran a valve of some sort in between the two. Apparently it was really good
and not that hard to do. One of the Jap performance houses also made a similar setup for early MR2s.
I reckon you should have a crack at it.

Run the blower under the manifold and the turbo as normal....you could clutch the blower after a certain rpm and them run a monster turbo.
Would be cheaper to run a 2.5 sti new with a vf34 or better...That would give you 350hp at the wheels....maybe enough for a while.

2.5 with a VF34 why botha.Over rated. TD05 witha 18 or 20g wheel mods now thats the way to go:thumb.....Blower waste of time.A 2L can out power a 2.5
with the right mods. Now a EJ22 would be interesting witha blower:thumb JVL

The Vf34 is one of the best/cheapest power up options on the market. Because you can buy it for $1300, it is ballbearing and has the same exhaust
wheel as my 24 with a bigger compressor for more boost and cfm. In mine now it is like it doesnt have a turbo...it spools up so early and hard. For
the street and track it is awesome.
A TD05 is great for high flow/strenght,even with a different exhaust wheel...will not spool up as quick as a vf24/vf34..different bearings and amount
of blades on wheels. Both awesome for different intentions.
What compressor and exhaust wheels has your TDO5 have and so people understand what we are talking about, how have the changes you made, such as
different wheels altered spool up, response and flow from a stock TDO5.

how does the VF34 pull up until reline?, does it run out of puff or does it pull strong?

| :thumbFor a start,. Needle bearings are the better way togo......eg. cases are stronger and are firm around the needle bearing its
self. The needle bearing runs a greater area surface which keeps it reliable to it s playing surface ..Ball bearings will not cope with over boost
where the turbo is working to hard.To many people rely to heavy on the turbo instead of the breathing.......As mention above he runs a bigger
compressor for boost from a VF34:P My TD05 runs a modfied wastegate which will run 14 to 16psi reliable without a 16,18 and 20g wheel. These wheels are
upgrades for a TD05 for better spool up higher psi.JVL

well the super charger has got to me and I purchased a ej22 that needs a set of rings .
I will be fitting the motor to my gear box with one of my seagull adapter plates & fly wheels .
But before I do this will strip the motor down and rebuild it , timing belt & water pump aside the motor rebuild kit is 15% more than VW .The cost of
maching the crank is 7% more than a vw unit , sizing rods ect is the same cost as vw
This brings me to what compression I need for a build up .as for the super charger I doing more home work on as to get the best out of the set up
I going to make a inlet like Christains with cutting to units one high & one low then weld them together .
I keep you posted , with some photos .

EJ engines came out with two different big end sizes the NA 20's 22's and 25's all had 48mm big ends until 1999 then they went to the stronger 52mm
in the ej25,WRX run the 52mm big end crank, for forced induction i would highly recomend the 52mm big end crank from a WRX or post 99 ej25 to prevent
spinning a bearing.

JVL....whats modified on your wastegate...my vf24 runs runs 16 psi all day. The more expensive, better performing turbos are ball bearing..they spool
up quicker and can spin harder with less friction. Vf30....same as a vf34 without ball bearings spools up 500rpm slower and is $400
less.:thumb:P:thumb
The 16g, 18 and 20g wheels are all smaller than the 22 on the t5..none will pump harder than a stock 22g top end. As the size gets smaller, the
ability to spool up gets earlier but run out of puff a little earlier also.
Sorry seagull...I would love to have a supercharger after the turbo....amy pics.

Just set up a new workshop...we have all the crazy metal fabrication tools and machines. What do you want made...2 things I will gaurantee:
1. It will work like it should..if not better.
2. You will get the parts if you pay for them.
oh and a 3rd...quickly.
JVL, did you just clean off the carbon with a dremmel and bend the wastegate arm so it holds higher psi.
