Apart from the Mk1 golf, The Mk5 golf is definetly the best one yet!
I have had most of the models as company or drive cars, and i feel that the pick of the bunch has gotta be the 2.0 FSI..... Realy flexible and powerfull engine, i know there is alot of raves about the TDI engines which are great, but the petrols are so much nicer to drive i feel!

Hi Mi55VW,
just be care full the new Golfs are made in south Africa and the labour is very cheep there are many stories going around in the industry about the build quality of the new golfs I brought a golf 4 when they just came out and have had many problems with build quality. and that was built in germany. The problems with the new golf that i have heard about are the doors coming loose and one falling off. and the air conditioning units having a blocked condensation outlet causing the care to fill up with water. Which caused the carpets to get very smelly, from what I understand both of these issues where not covered by warranty.

I just today bought a Golf TDI, test drove a few different golf's over the last 2 weeks and this was my absolute favorite!

I've heard lots of good things and it was great to drive. I didn't realise how much power to turbo diesel engines had!

I have to wait around three months though for it to arrive :P

Diesel fuel tip

MI55VW,
When you fill up, do it at places that have plenty of truck traffic and only use woolies diesel if you really have no other choice. Also, check the size of the VW filler neck, as you may pull into place that only has high volume truck pumps and the nozzle size is larger than a low volume filler. I can just get a truck pump to push back the closing flap on my Jeep diesel but it won't go into the filler neck properly. Makes for a long stay at the pump!

Wait till you go on an extended trip! They really sip fuel over long distances, pity about the cost for a litre of diesel however!

Enjoy the TDi !
Ctefeh
