What does a 'barn door' look like?


Will someone please post some pictures of a 'barn door splitty' so that I will know what you are talking about and so that I will know one whan I see it. Thank you.

You'll notice in the rear shot that the engine door is quite tall, reaching right up to the waist-line; this is the barn door. In the frontal shot you'll note that there is no peak over the top of the windscreen, unlike later split-windows. The blue example with no rear window (and a VW logo) was a very early example.

Ahha! So the 'barn door' is the big rear door over the engine. I would never have guessed that. I also guess tha genuine 'barn doors' are unusual and rare. Thank you.

P.S. I really like the red and white one. That picture explains eveything.
