ACN SVDA Distributor

Has anyone had any experience with putting in one of these distributors?

Aircooled.net claims a pretty major increase in performance over a stock dizzy - 3/4 mpg.

Would love to know how this stacks up to people's experiences.

Cheers,
Tom

You can make one yourself if you have a box of old ones

As far as I'm aware (corrections welcome) the stock distributor you refer to is a SVDA distributor; it's a single-vacuum, dual advance distributor, just like the one at aircooled.net; that is, unless you've replaced it at some time with a centrifugal-only distributor. The dual advance on the stock distributor is a combination of centrifugal and vacuum advance.

It's rather hard to see how a "pretty major increase in performance over a stock dizzy" could arise by replacing your (stock) SVDA distributor with an SVDA distributor. Of course, your stock distributor could be tired and worn; for some models it is no longer easy to find a good (stock) SVDA distributor, so a new replacement SVDA distributor might be just the ticket. The other claim of aircooled.net is that the advance curve of their SVDA distributor is 'better' than the stock distributor. If you find that argument convincing, I have some "Super Accelerator" hubcaps for sale you might be interested in.
