lowering 56 oval & rust prevention

Greetings
i just purchased a very original 56 beetle and have a couple of queries. i wondered if anyone could tell me what was involved in lowering the vehicle(not slammed) using existing suspension. the has only a few surface rust spots and was curious what was the best product to prevent this changing. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thanks rob.

for a 2 inch drop use dropped spindles, check out CB Performance.
straight bolt on and dont affect the ride.
turn the rear a spline and u shuld hav a lightly lowered oval.

any lower and the front will need an adjustable beam which involves welding in adjusters to the beam. do a search on here and other vw websites on lowering beetles.
