L Bug pics

Hi all. I have finaly got a decent photo of my L Bug in it's finished form.Well probably not completely finished as I don't think you ever stop playing with them do you.I have done a lot of km since the rebuild and have ironed out most of the problems and it's running well.

Yes I was the one with the handeling probs. I have it handeling a fair bit better now,but it still needs some work. I ended up removing the strut brace for a try and found I had a completely new Bug.I installed it when I rebuilt it and never ever drove it without it and when I took it out I could feel the difference instantly. It still feels like it body rolls in the back and it is greasy in the wet, but a vast improvement.I am now thinking maybe a sway bar for the body roll and possibily look at the rear tyres? Has any one had anything to do with Champiro tyres? I'll try a larger pic for you simon, the first one I tried to post was49.8kb and it wouldn't acsept it. It's a pitty these computers arn't as simple to work as a VW!

how are you going Nige? The rear wheels are almost 6" wide.I had them made by a local wheel maker. He cuts two wheels in half as far as he can, one from the front and the other from the back. He then welds them together with one weld to make them legal. He then sand blasts them and gives them 3 coats of black and then one of silver and bakes them in an oven.I think it's good value for $100 per wheel. The only drawback is you need 4 extra wheels to do the whole car. The front ones will have to go in only as a L bug struts won't allow you to go out any wider. Also I ran out of funds and the front hasn't been done yet.
