One way to start is by working out a rough budget for the work and then deciding if the project still looks OK; it's a waste of time to spend 6
months on it and then sell it off as an incomplete project, as many do.
You can get lots of help on this forum in working out a rough budget for each piece; slice it up into e.g. rust repair, panel work and paint for the
body and work out an approximate cost and effort for each part.
As the engine won't start, assume the worst, so allow for replacing it with an OK 1600, which are often advertised here.
Lots of folk here can give you an idea of what's needed for a retrim.
For "lowered", there are narrowed beams with adjusters for sale on this forum.
In other words, make a list of stuff to be done, work out the effort and $$ andd then decide if you're starting with the right material.
If your TAFE course covers sheet-metal, the rust repairs eould be a good starting point; that probably involves spltting the body from the pan, so a
pan restoration would be part of the total.
Above all else, don't forget to make a reasonable effort and $$ estimate for suspension and brake rejuvenation, otherwise the end result will be
dissapointing and evil to boot.
Once you've worked out a rough budget, post it up here so we can all throw rocks at it.
