Oxy welding of panels
many years ago i used oxy to fix rust spots and panels on an old beetle and well now with the splitty i am atempting to restore just wonedering if
people still use the oxy or if the mig is far easier and a better finish. just wondering as i have to buy either an oxy set or a mig. i also wondering
since there is a far bit of rust and panels to repair which will be the quicker to use

i have found in my own experience that a mig would be more universal to your needs. you can control the heat in the panel better with the mig. I
prefer oxy myself but mig welding is far easier.

Yer agreed.
Thing is you can get a very neat job with the gas-axe which requires a hell less grinding but if that does not bother you then mig would be the thing
IMHO.
The mig will give you plenty of other welding options as well with much heavier guage and/or different materials.
An oxy set can be had very cheaply off Ebay or out of the trading post if you need to do some brazing on something else at a later date.

If you are planning on metal finishing, then oxy is the way to go. If you dont mind a little filler, then MIG is heaps easier.
