new to the Forum and a Kombi Virgin
Hi,
Just thought I would put a post up to say hi and to let everyone know that I am about to take ownership of my first kombi much to my wife’s
amusement. A 1978 2.0lt green machine.
With a bub on the way and a hefty mortgage I made the decision to sell my WRX STi and buy a cheaper car. Then I remembered that my in-laws have a
kombi sitting in the carport.
It took a while to convince the better half as she still has childhood nightmares of the six siblings in the Kombi on family trips. To be honest I
don’t think she will ever go in it with me anyway ;-)
The kombi seems to be in pretty good nick apart from some surface rust on the roof but I am going to get the kombi checked out by one of the VW
specialists in Canberra in the next couple of weeks.
Anyway I will probably start a post somewhere else on the forum letting you know how the fix-it-up process goes.
Cheers

Welcome Adam,
Congratulations on the 'green machine'! I'm glad you decided to get the kombi and keep the VW's on the road.
You've inspired me now... think i might have to change my hair to 'bertnewtonstoupee'? What ya think?
Welcome to the family! Hope you enjoy AVD!

hey ray.
welcome to the forum! your new bub will love your decision.
feel free to ask any questions you wish, everyone on here is happy to help out with anything you need.
make sure your first port of call is to get rid of the surface rust. it can and will get worse, so nip it in the bud!
where in the ACT are you?
regards,
Fish

Bert's hair peice really does have a lifeforce of its own ;-)
I reckon you could use it as an emergency brake pad if you had to.
crewcabconnection:
hmmm..... I have read a few threads about the subi conversions but I have made a promiss to the better half that I wont do any engine conversions to
the Kombi especially after the debacle I had with the 2.5lt conversion I had done to my current STi. Talk about a money pit. .... The ar is back to
stock now ... but I still have the US STi 2.5lt short engine in the garage.. ;-)
