Well I just recieved my EJ20TT Im gonna shoehorn in a 1960 Bug, Any advice from anyone whos done it or any helpuful hinrs. Thanks Ill keep everyone updated:alien

Check the "non-VW engine conversion section" there is a lot of suby details in there. Welcome to the forum.

get another chassis - '68 auto or 1976. These have disc front brakes, semi-trailing arm rear suspension and tougher, more adjustable front suspension

take the engine out of the beetle, lift it several metres of the ground with some ropes and pulleys. Position the engine below the back of it, and cut the ropes....:D

Put the twin turbos on ebay and buy a single..trust me I have on in a 914..they are a nightmare to get to run properly and they still have that 1000rpm of lag at about 3800rpm.

If you still want to, then ask all the questions you like, have a search and a read....most stuff has been covered at some stage.

how did you go with the ej20tt in the beetle?, did you convert it to a single?
im in the build of a every day driver ( cash flow has been up to s*$t though
ripping my 091 box out and getting subaue gears to do me a box up and fit the thing in!
i got the whole car which is making it so simple ( now)
im keeping the twins as for dayly driving if you are reving it and get the lag in town driving thats your own fault and when ya have ya foot down you only get the lag once and for a short time as when you change to the next gear the second turbo stays open till you hit your disired speed then. over all performance in my eyes is better if you drive to the turbos / rpm
the twins are a pain to fit yes but who said different is a bad thing?

Nathan, This guy only ever posted the once by the look of it ( dated 06 )



Twin turbo subarus is a liitle like having AIDs, its a pain in the ass to deal with and you wake up every moring and want to shoot your self cause you played with out protection.

I have been with subaru for many years and know the TT quite well from my days of TT legacy's ( the holy grail of GTB )

apart from the vally of death you get, lots of rubber hoses you have the space issues , exhaust ect. If you have a GTB TT legacy motor ( yellow injectors ) is very close to V3 STI its best to go single turbo for the ease / power / mechanical space.

Yes being different is some times a very bad thing. Other have been there tested and moved on

My GTB with a VF34 would wipe the floor with any TT hands down off the line with wheels smoking all the way to 8500rpm. These days I roll with a EJ207 MY99 heads 264 Jun cams with a 6 speed its super bike fast running a VF34 tubo and 23lbs

thanks seagull. looks like he woke up to him self before i will!
i have 2 ej20h motors here and only one loom etc.
After getting a whole car a month ago and looking right into it ( after i was able to work out more stuff from the complince plates) I was looking at doing the single conversion a little latter on.
From the car i got, i was going to run the motor from it (183kw) till i could afford to rebuild the other (190kw) motor and was going to look into putting the vf34 or vf35 on it and put a stupid turbo on the other motor and use it for drags 3 or 4 times a year till it died
my biggest thing was i got the motor in the back of the bug with ease a few years ago (made the inner back guards straight with no kick in, notched room for the quad cams to fit, made a 32mm box section spacer between the body and floor and turned the rear parcel tray inside out leaving just room for the rear seat to slide back in) but had no finace at the time to finish the job off. now i have all the room in the world but also have more knowlage of the motor ( little late now though) So yea a little lost what direction to go so been building mothers bug ( hopefully for valla) till i wake up and know what im doing motor wise

The twin turbo motor to look out for in the one with yellow injectors. Its a GTB motor, these are very close to v3 sti with a slightly lower quality piston.

I have been fitting a few TD05 20G ebay $200.00 + 80$ shipping turbos of late, very happy with them for the coin

hi Seagul and Toey, I'm playing with the TT at the moment and if I had known better at the start would probably gone with a single turbo. But anyway I am all set with mine at the moment as being a racecar I can get away with major body changes to fit the twin turbos.

I have only had it on the track twice and have had an issue with overheating and then the engine not wanting to rev above 4000rpm. I think I may have sorted this out now and should have some more feedback next week after the dyno session.

my biggest problem fitting the TT was that the drivers side turbo touches the starter motor. I had to grinf back the turbo flange and also the nose of the starter but will probably build an extended starter nose section down the track.

Seagul, not sure what engine I have except that it is a 1994 engine but I will check the injectors when I get home. What years did the GTB use the yellow injectors?
