205 or 215/55/15 Yokohamas on 5.5 rim?
Can 205 or even 215/55/15 fit on a 15/5.5 rim? Currently run 195/55/15.

Hi Peter
Falken say 6.5 rim for that size tyre. I reckon its about time for some tasteful guard flares for the Spyder so you can run some decent rubber.

Rim fittment
Hi Peter,
On a 205/55R15 size tyre the ideal rim width is 6.5 inches. A 215/55R15 suits a 7.0 inch rim.
The minimum approved rim condition on the 205 is 5.5 inches.
The minimum approved rim condition on the 215 is 6.0 inches.
That information comes from page A12 of the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia standards manual.
In short could have a 205 performing within it's designed limits and the 215 trying to perform outside it's designed limits. Go with the 205.
