VW new car add ons

A mate at work just bought a Polo TDi - cant wait to have a ride!

They are pressuring him to buy the old add ons
Paint protection
Nature Guard - what ever THAT is??
Fabric protection

I have told him to buy a can of Scotch Guard and some McGuires polish and put the rest towards beer.

Am i wrong ??? (whoa..... find THAT hard to belive! :P )

Those that have bought a new car (VW) lately did you buy it??

Who works in the industry??

regards

Barry

When I bought my new Honda CR-V (before I became a Dubber) I had paint protection added, but didn't do anything else. I just kept it clean! :P

Blutopless and I usually buy new cars every 2 years and we never get the add ons. Just a waste of money and seeing that we don't keep our cars for that long we can't tell whether it is of any benefit

What do you do with the old ones? Just trade them in on the newies? Do you have them on a lease agreement thing? :P

We usually trade them on newies... but at the moment its looking like we are gonna keep the current ones for a few more years!!!!

Then we just need to get rid of our crappy daewoo and replace it with a vdub.

oh.. back on topic... probably not really worth the money they charge for all the extra bits etc.. if ya look after the car you probably wont need it anyway.

had one saleperson try and sell anti rust electronics!!! hehehe... after they told us the complete chassis was factory rust proofed!!

just go tinted windows... but get it done elsewhere.. lots cheaper and usually they send the car to them anyway and charge you $500 for a 2-300 job.

I can see the merit in getting the paint protection if you live in an industrial area with fallout and/or you plan on keeping the car for the long term... it'll help reduce scratches from lightly brushing past branches and dirt particles which seem to love unwaxed paint surfaces. That said, if you're prepared to lovingly polish and wax (two different things remember!) your car about once a month, then you won't need to get the paint protection. But in the end, it may be cheaper getting the protection thing done instead of buying cleaning products all the time...

Am I right?
