Just reported my 61 STOLEN any leads pls
Went to check on my 61 split today that I keep in a rented secure parking space in sydney. It is no longer there and I have reported it stolen.
If anyone has seen a 61 white split in a yard or on a truck I would be most greatful for any leads.
It has no locks or any rear lights, a great big big of wag and rust on the drivers side corner, and spanking new powdercoated wheels, oh and was full
of stuff like doors and fenders.
the last pic is old but shows the big mark on the siede

You dont think that someone thought it was abandoned and is now hiding it somewhere.
Hope you find it. I would shoot the ba#tard who took my volkswagen. I hope that when you found
her that she isn't damaged etc. It would also pay to check wrecking yards and local vw buisnesses.
Also post up pictures with a reward maybe???? Keep an eye on your Vw parts and cars everyone.
Good luck finding her and don't ever give up mate. If you do you ain't gonna find her. Was she
registed or roadworthy? Also post up when you last saw the 61 and check all cctv cameras around.
Also ask local buisnesses if they saw anything. If it was taken t wold of been taken at night as noone
was around. Also can you post up pics of were it was stolen so we could work out how they picked it up.
Good Luck mate.
Cheers Will.

NP keeping my eyes open out west here.
Should be easy to spot.
Bronze.
Suggestions: People that steal stuff arn't that clever. If it were mine some simple detective work would include:
* Ringing all the local tow companies (and trailer hire) and asking if they towed a white split VW lately, particularly PM hours. Offer a reward for
leads.
* Fax two companies offering a reward to anyone who can locate or provide information to the finding of your split - provide pictures.
* Stop general duties cops that patrol the local area at night and give them a sheet with the images and a reward for their Xmas club party if they
can locate it.
* Make a list of who would know where it is, how could they access it and when was the most likely time for the theft to occur.
* Fax wreckers, especially VW wreckers the pictures offering a reward for the return for lead to the return of the vehicle.
* Place a WTB add in the local paper asking a fairly high price for a 60' model split screen kombi to rebuild as a project.
* Paste up heaps of "LOST" signs at local car shows and grocery stores. Offer a reasonable reward for information leading to arrest.
* Contact the council rangers for the local and surrounding suburbs asking for information as they get into many back yards.
* See directly gas, electricity and phone techs for your local area. Provide them with good pictures and offer Xmas club reward for who can locate it
while on their rounds.
If it dosen't turn up found in the near future chances are that they are going to hide it and slowly rebuild it in a shed somewhere.
Offer parts for sale cheap that you know you type 2 needs. Do this the usual way and you might have the thief contact you.
Either way - you are going to make it almost impossible for them to revive it without any undue attention.
Of course - it may just turn up. Either way. Let us know how you go. Its a fairly unique car by todays standards.
Remember it's a small world and karma is a bitch.

if it comes to it, there is nothing quite so successful as footwork. i had my beloved Schwinn Spitfire customised cruiser that i had handbuilt taken
from leaning against my van whilst i was asleep in the van, my head less then 1m from where the bike rested. as the police saw it of little value,
they were not exactly inspired to do anything about the theft, so from 8am til 2pm i trawled the streets around where i was staying, talking to anyone
possible, and miraculously as i was giving up hope, the borrower took it to one of the local churches and leant it against the front sign, now i dont
know if my walking and talking flushed the bike out, but i do know that, as the bike had not been at the church when i went passed, if i hadnt done so
much talking my neighbor wouldnt have spotted the bike on his way out of town, driven back, and taken me to it, and in all likelyhood i would never
have seen it again. have faith in people, assume the best (a mistake) and you will hopefully be rewarded.

A few years ago I had a VP commodore that got stolen from my driveway in the middle of the night. Cops found it for me about a week later, dumped in
the same condition that it was the last time I saw it. It was only about 200m from my house, it must have been the only backstreet I didnt look in.
Moral of the story, you never know where it could turn up, keep your eyes open wherever you go.
Good luck man, hope you get it back. Having a split stolen must suck.

yeah they dropped it right at the front door, once I told them it was stolen I expect the towie didn't want to hold it much longer. Its got no rego
the reason why I rent the space for it. There whole attitute sucks, complete fucking arseholes. I needed to be greatful for their service and thankful
they were so helpful. They didn't have a clue.
with the best bit when the bimbo on the phone was like, don't speak to me like that, when I was pretty calmn and I replied would you not be upset if
your car was moved without your permission. Funny how these people always have a car stolen isn't it. arseholes rant off
