OH NO ! That Honda has gone quicker again!
Just got word that the Online Performance Honda has recorded a 10.98@118.9 and a couple of 11.02 passes.
Looks like I will have to pull my finger out!

Well as far as I know, the honda uses a B 22 engine that is close to stock, except for
.....well everything is changed except for the head!
The Honda's are allowed to be 100lbs lighter, but last time he raced up here, he was 1760lbs,
which is where I will need to be as a minimum for the class.
The 10 second Zone is not where I wanted to be so soon due to costs and licence requirements.
,I think my new engine and some removed weight should have that covered, but I will have to add wheely bars and alot of other stuff to ET that well
for the MPH...after all, I do have a 500cc advantage.

Hi Dave.
Had allmost the same thing hapen to me this weekend at a dyno shootout. I was the strongest in the N/A class with !49.7 Hp at the wheels, when a damn
Honda Integra came out and did 165 Hp.
I would however like to stand next to him at the strip.( He had to many big subs in the boot to be fast.)
Do you know how much Hp is lost from the flywheel to the wheels?
My engine used to make 190Hp at the flywheel.
The dyno opperator said that the readings in "shootout mode". is normally a bit lower than when you tune a car. Do you know if that is true?
Thanx Hermann.

Dont forget the atmospheric difference of the Dome Hermann.... Its loads higher in that 'big tent'! If you add say 20% to compensate for the
difference you'd be looking at 178 at the wheels! plus 15% for driveline loss (quoted from GENE BERG) and you'll have around 204hp at the FW!

Hi Herman,
That is a pretty damn good power figure from the volksy, and yes,
you would easily blow him off, just because of the weight advantage.
The shoot Out mode is the most popular method these days, and is "corrected" so that you can make comparisons
with any one, anywhere, who has dynoed on the same brand of dyno.
In my case, with the dyno that I chose in tune mode, I can multiply that figure by between 12 andd 15 pecent to get the figure.
( he told me that his tune mode was lower...I guess the try to make us feel better!)
I started a post in this section (or was it the "tech" section?) about this topic some time ago.
With the good air that you will find at Kwinana, and guessing the weight of your car at say 1850lbs with you in,
and I would say 175plus at the flywheel ,but dont be worried, that's 12.20s at 107 to 108mph!
You have run that speed at the track before with that engine no?
The ET may require some chassis and tyre improvements.

Don't be too worried about that power figure being different to when you dynoed last.
In America and New Zealand that equals about 250!
Seriously though, all dynos will vary, but really, the numbers at the track don't lie,
and that is what I use to determine wether the HP is real.

Hi Dave,
I have not been to the track with this engine yet, but I hope to go soon.
I have only been to an 1/8 th mite drag at our local airstrip, there was no traction and I beat everyone except a Willis with a 350 with 2 x 650
Hollys, (street rod / drag car) and a WRX, that had beter traction.
Thanx,
Hermann.
Ps. You should have seen the SS guys when I beat there best.

Hi Doug, I will post about a week before I go to Kwinana.
It is not easy to go on Wednesdays, I am about 300Km from the track.
Gull, A bug with a WRX turbo motor should be fast.
The biggest problem with such a strong engine is getting the gearbox to last and putting the power to the ground.
Thanx
Hermann

The fact that Hermann is doing this with a VW donk is the biggest thing.... Just like Daves project.... Its not just about brute power, its also about
getting it where it counts.... In the curve and to the ground..... I know how hard that is.... My brothers WRX powered Notch has loads of problems
getting it down with radials... Sure you could run slicks, but then not everyone can afford slicks. Dont get me wrong here... That car hauls and is
loads of fun to drive, gets 45mpg no matter how hard you drive it, and you could get in it tomorrow and drive it across Oz, but jeese it would be nice
to do it with a Dub donk in the back....
Dave now has the challenge.... To keep the focus, to keep the faith and to keep the flag flying!!!
