Two toning my kombi.
Hey guyz,
Not long ago i did the rust around the bottom of the windscreen on my Kombi and then resprayed the area at the front white. Now funds are here i am
going to finish off the rest of the kombi two tone from just below the windows up. Is there a way i can do it without having to replace all the window
rubbers, coz that would mean another 700+ for rubber which i dont have at the moment. So can i spray it with the window rubber in, and if i can how do
i do it?
thanks
Edward

You can spray it with the rubbers in, however it is not the best way to do it. You can put a string under the rubber to lift the edge as is normal
practice in the old days when cars generally had rubber bound windows. The difficulty I see in doing this on a kombi is that the rubbers on the back
and side windows sits more or less inside the opening of the panel rather than on the outside of the panel as is the case with the windscreen
rubber.
At the end of the day it is your choice.
The best way is windows out and new rubbers = cost of rubbers and knowing they are new and resealed also.
The cheapest way is string the rubbers which takes a fair amount of time and not necessarily going to work to a great success in this case.
The quickest way is to just tape up the rubbers as they are and rish edges of paint lifting in the future.
