How to best check probable fuel problem?

The beetle won't run, turns and fires, but very very stuttery/spluttery.
Won't hold revs and engine stops.

I suspect fuel blockage or similar.
Whats the best way to try and find it, the filters look fine.

Am using twin 36 idfs.

Any suggestions for the not so mechanically minded?

Hi,
Was running Ok until recently when it cut out while driving along.
That turned out to be the electronic ignition had died.

I have since put points back in and had it running. However after a lap around the block to check after points were installed it started coughing and spluttering.
Limped home, but now won't keep running.

Its not out of fuel.

I agree with ^

Points are CRAP these days and even new points need to be carefully checked.
I have seen them with no spring tension at all

You could have blocked idle jets.

Luckily on IDF 36's the idles are on the top
Hopefully you put a cut out in your filter base otherwise you will need to take your linkage assembly off.
They are the brass screws next to your emulsion stacks

If you happened to have on or 2 blocked it wont idle.

Does it run Ok with more revs??

Futue te ipsum!!!
