Recommended ratios for a 2276 EFI/Turbo/Intercooled streetcar?

Anybody have a heads-up on recommended ratios for a 2276 EFI/Turbo/Intercooled streetcar?
Im looking for more all out stuff than streetcar here.... Maybe not full drag spec, but something that will get me in the 11's or 10's!..... I dont mind that this car will be a little tightly wound.... I have nice little Notch for daily duties... The Ragtop with 2276 is purely a fun for car for a little drag duties and local street work..... Ranco are saying I need the ProStreetPlus (I think?) with 4.12 and stock ratios, but I have always been led to believe the 3.88 was the go with turbo cars..... Whats the consensus?

Turbo Street car with loads of torque, looking for low 11's - high 10's..... What should I be looking for?

Use the 3.875 diff .
I would use taller 1st and second ratios and
that way you can put in a little strength.
(aftermarket)
You can use stock ratio 3rd and 4th or perhaps a 1.04 if you want.
If you get an Albins 002 style 1&2 mainshaft and gears,
then you can use 1.26 and 0.89 from an 1800 bus box.
So assuming stock tyre height:
3.55 or 3.1
2.0 or 1.93
1.26 (up to 1.38)
0.89 or (up to 1.04)
Those guys say 4.125 because that is what they have to sell you...they
have either no 3.875's or are pre-sold to racers...find a core locally.

Thats a cool calc.... Thats one for the 'favourites'!
Cheers Dave.... thats the sort of help I needed.... If I could get this box built n Oz..... What would be the cost?.... And would it be as good as something from Rancho?.... I know Albins makes the best gears, but is there anyone in Oz that can do box's like the pro's who do it everyday?

I think Shimmo is still doing trannys.
There are many good tranny builders on this coast, and I certainly wouldn't send your money overseas and have to pay duty on the labour and then a mint for freight.
The tranny is as strong as the parts you use, provided the guy knows his stuff.
I would guess parts at about 2-2 1/2 plus axles and core that has a 3.875 diff ratio.
I would also guess labour at around 700 depending on where you live and the minimum wage( I mean hourly rate!)
Your going to need a super diff or quaiffe, so that guess is for a superdiff.
There are alot of variables, perhaps one of the local shops can share a recent job price.
IRS or Swing?
A normal rebuild done properly takes 8 hours plus or minus.
But the tranny in Pete and Rod's chop/nostalgia bug took 20 hours, so you can see how things can get expensive.

Cheers Steve.... Your set-up was very close to what Dave has suggested....
A little more info....

My car will be IRS'ed. The price I have from Rancho is good @ 1400US (1800AUS approx), shipping is not a huge issue as we are buying a 4 box's at once and it is being shipped through a mates company... So thats gonna be cheap.... The ProCompPlus has CroMo bits and hardened Keys and various other bits... I haven't got the actual ratio specs from them yet, but it will be interested to see what they offer for that....

Looking at those ratio's that you have there Steve.... I'd have to be pulling some serious air and revs to make 11's!... The way I calc it, Id need around 8K RPM and 140mph to make it!...... Not sure if my turbo is up for that!

Oh, where will it end! :spin:

Hi Simon,
I doubt for that money you will get a strong 1st and 2nd mainshaft, nor 3.88.
Ask them about those options, and some good axles.
You only need 120mph to run in the 10s. Althoug with 130 on board you should be a shoe-in.
If you are IRS then you will also need bigger splines on your output shafts in the diff centre.(Quaiffe's come with these)
Regards, DB.

Humpy, The gears that Dave recommends with the 3.88's with albins 1st and 2nd and kombi big tooth 3rd and 4th is very close to what I am running. I am also running IRS and a LSD but getting on of the Debiasi LSD's. You should look into them. They are rated to 500hp and arn't a bad price either. Peter Debiasi is putting my box together here in Adelaide. U2U my for there Ph no if interested.
