Where can I get a Subbie engine from?

Tossing up the idea of going to the Dark side of the force.
Any one got some ideas of where I can get a subbie engine from in Adelaide and about how much I would be looking at?
Like the idea of playing with turbos but not sure yet so...
EJ20T
EJ20
EJ22
or EJ25

it would be going into a 1970 beetle.

Cheers Guys.

Ask around some import joints perhaps, or see 'Seagull' on this forum.

Oh yeah im in Alice Springs that is why I am asking about in adelaide.
It is the easiest way to get stuff here.
Either by truck or in a trailer when I next go down there :)

EJ22s about $1250 from Brookvale Spares in Sydney - google 'em. They've got lots.

My mate GTMac (on here) bought his EJ20T from Sunspares in Qld. The package price included the wiring harness modified and labelled to splice straight into the Beetle, plus written instructions PLUS phone back up for advice with problems - and yes there were a couple! I was impressed - and it's something you should consider

I reckon $8K from radiator to tailpipe for a legal conversion (don't forget brakes and engineers certification) but I'm a 'worst case scenario' kinda bloke (better to be that way than heartbroken or broke!) and several others on AVD have done it for less. eg: a radiator and thermo fans might be free from a dump or $300 from a wreckers yard but no matter what, coolant, pipes and hose clamps will cost you $150. Depends on how much you can scrounge and/or do yourself (eg: find and install radiator, for instance)

Use the search function on here - lots of info
