The fine line between bad luck & just being jinxed

As most are aware, my wife is president of the "All volkswagens (& their owners) should be f##ked & burned" club.
I'm beginning to think they hate her right back.

Case study one:
When we had an old baja, the one & only time she drove it, the throttle jammed wide open.
(it has never been explained WHY she had the bloody thing wide open)

Case study two;
I drove my 73 bus from Werris Creek to Newcastle & back on one day, Tamworth & back the next. A total of roughly 600 kms in 48 hours. She took it from home, 3 blocks to the shop, & I had to tow it back.
5 of the 6 bolts holding the CV joint to the gearbox fell off & the last one snapped.

I left the same bus with her when I had to come to Newcastle for a fortnight. The regulator packed it in the first day.

Case study three;
I am now the proud owner of a 90 bus. I, personally, have put some 10,000 kms on it in 4 months. The lady Melanie has driven it maybe 10 times.
So far the throttle cable has broken on her down at the local shops. The only reason she had it was because it was first in the driveway, AND I HAD JUST DRIVEN IT THERE!!!!
Monday night she had to take all our kids & one extra to drop one of my boys to cadets. So I have her car & she has mine. The bloody tailpipe falls off.

Now, I am not suggesting for a minute that she is doing anything to cause any of this, but, rest assured if it's going to f#ck up, Melanie will be driving.

At what stage should I tell her to stick with her mazoodar & LEAVE MY F#CKING VW'S ALONE??

Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

Ah Spook that's a classic. My missus can't drive a manual (well, not very well), so my VW's are very, very safe.

Sounds like my dad with his european cars... his Saab bucketed down a hill backwards after he left in in drive and the handbrake slipped... smacked into a tree and snapped the engine mounts... meaning the engine clobbered the steering column and bent it... and it ended up with a curvier than normal chassis. surprisingly... no panel damage... hardly any damage to the bumper.. and it was still driven onto the tilt-tray to get taken for repairs! never worked properly since. :(

The BMW... well... within a week of getting it, he dived out of the car with it in Drive to stop the horse getting out the gate, and it rolled merrily into a 2ft diameter gatepost... mangled the bumper and the grill, and buckled the corner ofthe bonnet and right front guard, and broke the indicator lense... which cost 70 bucks to replace in itself... and it required a lot of panelbeating. :duh
Also now has a buggered oil sensor, has a dodgy starter motor, a dodgy safety swith in the auto gearbox... meaning it wont start at random times, and has developed a few oil leaks left right and center.

And his Alfasud, his first european car... well, fine until it effectively rusted out from under him... as do all Alfasuds... :(

This is what I mean, 1 is unfortunate, 2 is a pain in the arse, but 3 different volkswagens & you have reason to be paranoid. THEY MAY WELL BE OUT TO GET YOU...:P

One of them is waiting for her to get underneath to try & fix it....AND THE SUSPENSION WILL COLLAPSE.

I've not said it's a woman thing. It's a 'my wife' thing.

As I've said, there is no way she could have caused any one of them. All equipment failures that can happen anywhere anytime.
I'm just telling you who is going to be driving at the time..:P

Ban her, however there is a downside.

My missus won't drive my buggy. It's because the one time she needed to drive my last vw (67beetle) to work, her bone head boss teased her coz of the 2 tone purple/white paint. She wasn't super confortable driving the car anyway. Now she's paranoid about being teased too.

Anyway, while our Pug was being fixed a few weeks back I became taxi driver. :td:

The funny bit was watching her, then 8.5months pregnant climbing in and out of a very tall beachbuggy. :D

I know exactly what you mean I drive the buggy everyday to work and back and no problems, the missus will just pop to the local shop and back and it'll be backfiring when she returns. When we had a kombi it always ran beautifully, I got in to drive for the first time in a long while and the oil light was on, so I said "how longs this light been on" "Oh yeh I've been meaning to ask you about that as it's been on for around two weeks now!" Needless to say it didn't last too long after that.

I know EXACTLY what ya mean Spook

My missus was alway the same with my beetles.

You would go away for work and she would ring me and tell me the car door was jammed shut. Yes, the top hinge was rusted through but it worked fine.................

Came home after a week away, and.......open the door. No problems. :blah

The kombi rear tail NEVER opens for her......... go out, press the button.... guess what. THE DOOR OPENS :blah:blah

Ahh yes, my whole life I have had constant contact with various members of this association and although my wife is not a card carrying member she would probably admit life may be easier for her if I didnt own any (vw's).
Cheers

Karma brother; plain old karma.

If she dislikes em, then thats what you get. The Herbie movies are a good example of that(not that either of the two statements are related!!).
