Yeah, I'd say QLD as well. I come from SA and on a schoolies trip to the Gold Coast it was down around $1.00-$1.10 while at home it was up around $1.30. That's if I remember correctly.

QLD has a state governemnt 'rebate' of 8 cents a litre on fuel, so it should always be cheaper than other states.

yeah... there was a scam for a while where truckies were buying the cheaper fuel from Queensland... filling up their tanks.... then driving to NSW and selling it to smaller trucks at a higher price, but it was still cheaper than what they'd be paying in a NSW servo :D

government put a cap on the tax threshold to stop it... party poopers :P

On Today Tonight, they have made a deal with 6 United petrol stations and the price of unleaded in Altona United will be locked in at 121.7 until close Sunday and E10 blend at 117.7

So I would say that would have to be the cheapest petrol.

queensland taxpayers have just payed to have a 3 month long inquiry into fuel prices and at the end they came out straight faced n said "we found nothing" soooooo the victorian state gov decided hey we should have an inquiry :duh ithink its in progress now ummmm just to add the gov currently takes about 75c/ltr non funded inquiry but me thinks this could be contributing to high petrol prices but... im no scholar

The best bit is we pay a 30+ cents per litre excise (tax) and then GST on the whole pump price which is 10%

Sooooo we pay tax on a tax???????

that tax on tax would be about 3 cents per litre. Not much when you consider that the oil company is getting about $1 per litre.

If you use 33 litres a week at 3c per litre tax on a tax, that is $1.00 a week, $50 a year, maybe 10 million motorists. Gives a total of half a billion dollars a year.

Woolworths fuel is cheap rubbish (kinda like a mix of LRP and metho!). Used it years ago and my car ran like a pig. The money you save, you can spend on re-building your engine. Frankly, the price of petrol is an absoloute joke and a rort. But, at the end of the day, my cars and bike need it to run so I have to fork out the dough to get somewhere (unless i use public transport and put up with school kids, unemployed jerks and pensioners) - I can do that when I get to work thanks. But anyhow, I always fill up at the same servo where I know the fuel is of a reputable quality and they turn enough of it over so it doesn't go stale and crappy. I would rather spend a small ammount extra per litre knowing that I am getting as decent a fuel as is available to me than cheap crap that will destroy my engine faster than acid just to save $2.50 on a tank of gas. Food for thought....:puke
