BEST cleaning agent suggestions.

I may have to get a courier to deliver some gear to a potential customer, if it goes underway. How do i go about cleaning an oily greasy gearbox (including where the axels mount), a torqueconverter (without stripping its paint) the canisters and pump?

ANy good home cleaning products?
Can of degreaser?

Can of degreaser and a stiff dunny brush, coat, scrub, recoat, rescrub etc. Was off with a bucket of hot water. Repeat until clean. Wear old leather gardning gloves. Do it over a few days so the degreaser can do its thing. As the grunge goes, a 3m green scouring pad, dishwashing liquid neat and lots of elbow grease.

It is a bastard of a job.

ps, keep your gauges, you will get them to work. You are about to have a crash course in electrics and mechanics. Get the idiot book.

Kero is a great degreaser if you brush it on & let it soak in/brush. Works much better if the metal is not stone cold. Degreasers may be faster but can tend to remove some paints more than the kero. Other solvents can damage the paint (or your health!)

there's some great stuff called CT-18... if you put it on straight its a great degreaser/de muddy'er... or you can dilute it and use it to wash the paint :)

it just looks like liquid car wash soapy stuff, but it really is a miracle invention... in my humble opinion :spin:
