Good Digital SLR for under $3500? opinions?

hey guys
for all you photographers out there, im looking to upgrade to a digital SLR fairly soon and would like to know what experiences you have had with some of the models out there. my little sony cybershot is dying a slow death and its time to get serious.
Ive got a very nice film Nikon SLR and am leaning towards the Nikons so i can use my lenses on the digital as well, but have heard alot of good things about Canons.
As for requirements, ill be using it for alof of shit but im after something thats good with actions shots mostly, so a fairly high fps rate.

anyway, whatever advice you have is much appreciated. any good websites u know of with comparisons and reviews would also be good.
regards
sam

NIKON D70 - more robust than the Canons...under 2k...spend the rest on lens' - D70 Camera body is more than enough grunt.

Cannon EOS 350D.
We use them at work for skydiving photography and ground work and they are the way to go.

if youve already got nikon glass, why bother getting a different system for digital? its a waste to buy anything other than a nikon even if you have non-af glass.

im sure a digital body without glass will save you a fair whack, but if you do need lenses then go for nikon glass, not that *cheap* stuff they seem to add on as a kit lens.

in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

I'll second that. I updated my Nikon film SLR with a D70, all my AF lenses clip straight on, and am very very happy with the kit.
Let me know if you need some sample photos taken with this camera as an example of what a complete mug can do.

My Dad got a Nikon D70 off of eBay for a truly amazing price. He already had an older Nikon so all his lenses can be used for it. Personally I don't think it takes that good photos, I'm a Canon girl all the way. :duh

My vote is for the d100.

Had mine for 2-3 yrs, not a single problem...!!! haven't even thought about upgrading, this camera has everything the am/pro needs.

Highly recommended.

Cheers Craig.
