Near death experiences... Offroad?
Ever rolled a fibreglass buggy? Did a jump over a dune to realise its a cliff edge?
Its an interesting thing to hear. Cause we hear so much affirmative stuff, but wanna know the reality of the situation. Whether it is just fun and
games...
I look forward to finishing my baja... one day, but i spose like doing anything, theres always a risk involved.

I've jumped over a dune and realized it was a cliff i was going over........the "spotter" i had thought i would never make it up so he signalled it
was ok. After the thought of dying had elapsed from my mind it was quiet funny....it was all very slow motion as i ploughed down through the canopy of
trees and went through the windscreen. would have won funniest home videos for sure..... Pitty it killed the buggy and stopped me walking
for a couple of days....

Was doing a bit of rally style driving around the pine plantations north of brisbane. Went around a blind corner i thought i knew at 80-90km/hr only
to find there was a dip into a creek wash out with cement bridge. Hit it sideways and the inside wheels lifted, so close to rolling i could feel it
going but ended up coming to a bouncing stop on the othr side! My passenger thought i did on purpose and wanted to do it again!!

Hmmm, well I rolled by buggy after a towing incident went wrong, suffered a broken arm, with plates and screws to hold it together now YAH:thumb
but only on the weekend, Iwas climbing a sanding hill, and while trying to reverse down without looking, I put the inside wheel into a ditch, and she
lifted the passenger side.
Thought I was going over, but luckily didnt
It is always fun and games though

Guys, look, it's a free country and all that stuff, so I'm not trying to stifle your thirst for sharing info, but I'm not sure that this topic's
exactly what should be on this forum - and given that there was an offroad competitor killed in a buggy over in Vic a couple of weeks back, it's a
bit of a sore subject with me. Yeah I know that bloke knew the risks invovled in competition, but the accident occurred in a (reasonably) controlled
environment with everyone driving in the same direction - we don't need to "promote" these scenarios - there're enough dicks on the roads as it is
!!

I'm sorry if it is a sore subject with you. I know nothing of the accident that you are referring to. I think you will find the topic is generic and
not related to this incident that you mention.I've also had good friends killed in car accidents and i in no way promote bad/unsafe driving on public
roads. I can't see where anyone has/is promoting their relevant scenario,let alone on a public road.I'm sorry if my post offended you,it was not

Look, no offence taken at all Mick - or by any on remarks on this thread for that matter. I also realise that the thread is not referring to that
racing incident (in fact there's not much known about it all, other than it was a pure accident), and I wasn't intending to make any comparison with
it either.
It's just that I've seen far too many close calls through people doing stupid things that started out as "fun", both on and off road - in fact
I've been there myself a couple of time for that matter as well, and wouldn't use them as anything other than extreme learning experiences, and to
pass onto my kids as examples of what not to do. It was probably just the original title that got my nose out of joint for a while

I have never rolled a fibre glass buggy but I have rolled and crashed a few of my rally cars over the years (while competing in motor sport events).
Ive had some massive prangs and some very close calls too. If it wasnt for the safety features built into my race cars they (prangs) may have been a
lot worse. I have also see more then enough fatal accidents and the reality is, crashing/rolling or what ever is not fun, nor will ever be.

i find that you just have to find your limits and be prepared for the outcome if you decide to go beyond them. i have done many a stupid things like
going blind into a sand dunes without really knowing whats ahead and by stupid luck have come out alive. In my offroad racing career i have come close
many a time to rolling but shear luck has been on my side and we all know the risk of racing fast thru trees and well , when you number is up there is
nothing you can do. So enjoy life every minute and don't let anyone stop you from having fun
