Hi Pete,
There are many fine details in the rule book,
but the general idea is that the body needs to be kind of standard, but body kits and the like are OK, but have a look in the ANDRA rules for the
specifics.
In the USA there is a 2500cc capacity limit for the Volksies and a 1750lbs minimum weight, but here in Australia, there is no capacity
limit(yet)
You can run other types of engine but they incur a higher minimum weight.
From memory VW air cooled is 1750lbs, water cooled RWD is 1900 and FWD is 1650.
FWD is the only car that can run a tube chassis but they incur a weight penalty back up to 1750lbs.
So you can run a Subaru engine, but you would have to be 1900lbs minimum.
Oh, and most importantly, Normally Aspirated.

Ta
do you reckon they would have a nervous breakdown over a buggy body or would that just be treated as a bodykit? Afterall, my pan is standard.
And if they can allow this level of fibreglass on a FWD surely a buggy can't too much different. Personally I think it looks...:puke
