help J/g nightmare/slipper clutch

Has anyone had a problem with floater style (J/G style) clutch setups not disengaging after burnout? I can drive this setup all around the pits, works flawlessly,do a burnout and can't hold it still long enough to set the delay box, will literally pull you through the lights.I have a clutch stop on my pedals ,so I know it's not traveling too far,but even when I removed the stopper and gain that extra travel and push it all the way to the floor will still do it.The input shaft is perfect, rechecked all the splines, disc will slide on them easily.

One thing you may want to check out is where the outer fingers of the floater plate come into contact with the flywheel for grooves or wear ridges on the loaded side

I have thought about that, looked but did not see anything where the floater makes contact with the spacers,What I am wondering is if it's because my floater is aluminum rather than steel like" Dangerous" has,and it expands to where it wedges, this is only a guess, but if I don't hear anyone else having a better idea am going to give more clearance there, thanks for your input

Hi Mike,
there is not alot of clearance on the posts, and if the floater is over heated it will do as you describe.
I had a similar problem back in the dark ages when I made another flywheel and the PCD of the bolt holes was a little small.
(used metric dimention instead of inch...222mm intead of 8.75" I think)
I turned down the posts by .010" and the problem was gone. You may choose to open up the slots in the floater,
or correct the FW bolt pattern.
Just bolt your posts in by themselves and see if the floater will slide freely. I was amazed that mine got gears at all,
'cause I had NO cold clearance!
Also if you are running good solid gearbox mounts, straighten out the bowden tube to give more workable pedal travel.
Regards, DB.

thanks Dave,I have a hyd clutch in my car so that I can run a delay box,but have plenty of travel. The way they did this one was with bolts drilled through the backside of the flywheel, they are welded to the flywheel so I can't change the locations, will have to mate this assy and clearance as needed, sure is nice talkin to someone who has had the same problem,I'll make sure I have at least .010 clearance, thanks again Dave,

Prob just check first to see how much clearance that it has now.
10 thou would be maximum I would say.
