Hi
That is a strange number, it might be a police number for a new crankcase. I assume its from a Type 3 not a T3. You can identify the motor by other
means, early type 3s used a single relief valve case with 6 mm oil pump studs, later ones used 8 mm oil pump studs and really late ones had twin
relief valve cases, 8 mm oil studs.

soz, i meant type 3.
the number it self does look oddly stamped. The numbers aren't exactly straightly plonked. doesn't look like a manufacture job. I wouldn't know,
but yeah.

hey steve, if it was a late one, or really late one, would it be a 1600?

Hi
It would still be a 1600, they are still Type 1 based motors, so 69 stroke by 85.5 bore = 1585 cc

chris - i thought from the look of the pic that the head/case studs were 10mm - not sure what stock motor came with these? looked bigger than 8s...

Should have looked at my case Chris. My case is around Sept. 64 and it is O 747182, VIN number of pan is 0474050 and was produced around May 64 for
ref. I think the body actually waited around sometime for an engine! That is the original engine number written in the manual with the vehicle so it
will give you somewhere before that as a date as already stated above. What condition is it in around the cam bearings?
