Looks like its style was somewhat derived from the classic kooble.
I wonder how heavy the bonnets would have been to support a spare tyre without distortion. (contimplated it for 10 seconds a while back on my baja,
just no strength in the glass bonnet.)

69' baja: kombi box, thing spindles, irs, disc front, type 3 rear drums, 2 inch lift kit, 31x10 rears.
New engine in process: 94mm p&bs, 74mm C/w chomol Crank, 35.5x39 SP heads, turbo. Wierd combo, hopeful torque monsta!

Country Buggies Sold in Australia - 887 RHD**
Interesting to note that there were only 887 Country Buggies sold on the Australian Market...
and they were only sold in 1968-69 in Australia...
[but 3 RHD C/Buggies were made in 1970 ???]
More than 42% of manufacture were LHD buggies...
All chassis were made in 1967....
on VW's production line at Clayton Victoria...
Right Hand Drive Country Buggies Made:
842 completely assembled in 1968
42 completely assembled in 1969
3 completely assembled in 1970
Total : 887 RHD totally assembled in Australia..
600 LHD totally assembled in Australia..
241 RHD CKD Kits produced.
228 LHD CKD kits produced.
very Interesting

1600 Twin Port IRS Country Buggies ************
Country Buggies were made in the Phillipines up to 1974
and featured IRS rear end and 1600 twin port engines...
They are probably very rare too considering their location
with Salt Air & Humidity......

I'll bet none of Us would have given a Country Buggy a 2nd look...... back then.....
After a while... the original prototype looks better than the production cars....
More rounded lines may have made it look better....
:P
But steel rulers don't bend....:o
so everything had to be flat or square....:P:P
It looks like it was just made from flat pieces of steel, but they did have stamped panels on them.,....
Well, at least one or two.. :P:P:P:P:P
