59-60 beetle??
I am after some details on a 59 built 60 model beetle.
What indicators did it have on the front? (if any)
What dash is it? 61 style or oval?
Badge on the bonnet? 4 tab like oval or three pins like later?
and what crest would it have had? the blue or black background??
any help would be great.

59 should have semaphores. 60 had rear 50/50 tailights. dash has no fuel gauge, reserve lever, hump fuel tank speedo cable tube, light relay before
exit to guards,6 fuse holder in bonnet area,no grab handle on dash,if it has 50/50 taillights the indicators are on the front guards(clear peanut
types) 59 had single colour interior 60 had two tone type, should have oval type bumpers not towel rails,36hp engine not 40hp and non syncro split
gearbox. four tab hood with black emblem. please feel free to pick apart if wrong:duh

Dunno 'bout single colour interior to 59. Seen a few 58's and 59's with 2 tone.
It's all pretty common with VW production. If they had some left in the parts bin, they used 'em. Or if they ran out and the new part was available,
they used it.

Yeah,
I've got one that's a bit of a mix. No phores, 36 horse with manual choke, has grab rail & 2 tone door cards but one colour seats. Wiring connectors
are screw type not push on, it has fuel gauge. Headlight lenses do not have directional lense cut, just circle in middle, main bulb unit includes park
bulb not separate like later, also has 5 O'clock 7 O'clock adjuster position. Also has grease nipples on pedal cluster and rear end of hand brake
cables. Has clear peanut front indicators and probably had 50/50's on the back but they are long gone. No springs on bonnet hinges. ( currently using
"Empi" wooden bonnet strut, Lol )
My main problem with it is the previous owners son thought he could make a '64 model tank fit in a hump tank space by taking a grinder to the
firewall / bulkhead and cutting most of the top half of it out.
I also have an early '61 (see pic to your left), so I'll have a good comparitive look around them both and post what else I come up with.
Matt.
