does anyone know why the horsfall/horsfall entry is down as a john special buggy. i was under the impression it was normalish road lic buggy???

does anyone know if there were any normalish buggies/bajas amongst all the jimco's et al doing it for the fun and nostalgia??

To answer your question we race a class 2 ( up to 1650cc engine size ) off road buggy ( called a "John Special" because the guy that built the frame in 1992's name was John! so cams called it a John special ) While nostalgia would be fun, it would be too cruel to put a road registered buggy into such a difficult event- most of the offroad toprunners have between 25-30 inches of wheel travel, our is old school with 15 inches at rear and about 10 at the front, so we concentrate on reliability, which obviously payed off.
Just out of interest there were two cars ( we saw ) there with a fibreglass baja shell, and one car actually runs a VW engine, the fastest cars are averaging in excess of 115km/p/h with Shannon Rentsch finishing the 230kms in under 2 hours!!!!.
