trying to get my car back on the road after the accident .... NOW WITH PICS

Hi everybody,

As you may have read along in my last post on the accident, my 58 beetle got cleaned up by a young "P" plate driver.
I at the time was with out insurance, and had to chase the guy to get him to do the right thing.

Well after all was said and done the NRMA only paid me $600.00 for my car (well $1000.00 minus $400 scrap value) .... i got the ruff end of the pineapple big time.
But i also didnt have my own insurance at the time , so i cant complaine to loudly, it has been one of those "life lessons"..... SO, now trying to move on & get the old girl back on the road, i am desperate to try and find a new nose for my car ... i am looking for a front end from the gas tank forward.
If any of you can help me out, i would really appreciate it.

She will at a later date get the "full resto" that she deserves, but for now i am with out a car, so i need to get this sortted.

Again if you can help with a nose (which i happy to pay for, i am not looking for freebie) Please i would really like to hear from you.

Please email me at fdunleav@bigpond.net.au

Thanks,

old guard

I`d be bolting on an old guard and throwing a chain on the guard and pull it out on a rack.
Its not a hard job.
It would be a lot less work than putting on a new front!
Best of luck:thumb

I agree....
Doesn't seem like a lot of damage....
just crumpled.....
if You can have that pulled out, at least so the tyres don't rub etc....
and keep on driving.....

Best of Luck

Pity you're in Melbourne and I'm in Qld. I could knock that out (whist pulling the front back out at the same time) in a matter of a couple of hours. Check around Melbourne for a coachbuilder, not a panel beater, as I've heard there's a couple down there.

The good news is, it doesn't look too bad, and it's not as bad as it looks. Which makes it not too bad at all...

It is not very likley a coachbuilder will be able to fix it.

You will need a very skilled and patient person to take the time to repair it properley.

I have had a quick going over this car.
There is a bit more to it then it looks like.
But....for driving purposes, you can do a dodgy pull job and quick alignment check.
This would definately get the car drivable.
We can pretty it up later Fin.
Aw hell....I have your splitty ute here aswell!
