ok... this is what i have found within the rules for the world cup....
"Players that receive two yellow cards and subsequently a red card will be automatically suspended from his team's next match.
Two yellow cards received in two different matches will result in an automatic suspension from his team's next match.
A player that receives a straight red card will automatically incur a suspension from his team's next match, although the tournament's Disciplinary
Committee may extend the duration of the suspension."
There is no mention of a cut off point at which all yellow cards are effectively cancelled and players start fresh... though i believe that in the
past this has been done.

From what I have read (and I am not a soccer tragic - more a general sports tragic ) the yellow cards collected in the first round pool matchs will be wiped for the next round.
So if Cahill etc can avoid a yellow in the match against Brazil, they can play in the game against Croatia... but... if any of them get a second one
against Brazil, they are out for the final (and most crucial) game against Croatia.
