Saw the worst thing today
Whilst collecting a package from TNT at Mascot .. I noticed a scrap yard .. Cool I thought when I'm done I'll see if there are any old Dubs
.. and you would'nt believe it along came a tralier full of shit with a damaged '67 ish beetle stuck on top. So I raced over to the guy and
had a breif chat with him scabbed a few hub caps and bits and pieces that were lying on the pan. I stood back and then watched as this huge claw
smashed down on the roof and crushed it into a ball .. Watching the windscreen, rear window and side windows explode ... Another one bites the dust!!!
Just thought I'd share that horror story with you all

I know how that feels. When my VW was written off at the end of 2001, I stripped it and took the shell and pan to Simsmetal at Padstow (photos of the
unstripped wreck here
http://www.clubvw.org.au/phil%20matthews.htm
The guy in the crane could hardly wait for us to lift the shell off the trailer before he dropped the huge claw right in the middle of the roof -
crunch! I couldn't bear to watch it. Always worse when it's your OWN car!

Scrap yards crush them on purpose.
A mate of mine worked at Sims on Kooragang for years & as soon as something gets dropped off they destroy it so That no one comes asking about
it.
The reason being they are not a wrecker.
Lucky's at Teralba used to let you scrounge, then charge you by the ton. But the public liability fiasco put an end to that..........
Even a lot of wreckers now wont let you in the yard. They go & get the part themselves.

Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

This bussiness of not letting you into the yard to get your own stuff has gone mad up here, (SE QLD) one wrecking yard actually has escorted yard
tours, for groups of twenty at predetermined times, it costs $20.00 for an hour!
I realise that the public liability thing has gotten out of hand, but why cant you just sign an indemnity form and take responsibility for your
self!
