do quick search on online UBD or
Gregorys.
-
Generally'
M5 gets you out of Sydney Fast. $ 3.30 or more now.
Turn off at Liverpool turn off at Hume Highway - not the first Liverpool turn off .
Head North on Hume Highway ( right ) to Elizabeth Drive about 2 KM.
Head West ( thats Left ) to Smithfield Rd about 5Km.
North ( thats Right )and you go right past Fairfield Markets where show is.about 3 Km,
Its on the Left, Dave will have put out Signs. Plus.........
There will be 3000 VW's milling around heading in.
At 6am this drive would take 50 mins. at 8am weekdays about 2 1/4 hrs.
so sunday should be about 1 1/4 Hr.

I see you are coming from Wollongong why not go via Heathcote Rd to Liverpool where you can join the m5 and follow the rest of Glens instructions this
will save you about 1/2 hr or more

Rather than Elizabeth Dr out of Liverpool wouldn't the Cumberland Hwy be better? Exit at Polding St and you're (virtually) there.
I'm not likely to make it up there till 2pm-ish. How likely am I to miss everything?

Southern tourists are we
Chris I'm a great navigator, really:sandrine We should make good time:kiss
OK one southern tourist is heading home on an 8ish flight same day. Will get to airport by train but will have time to kill. Thinking of training or
ferrying into Sydney.
Would prefere the ferry into Sydney from Parramatta cos I love the water and the harbour. How far or difficult is Parra to get to from Prairiewood? Is
Fairfield Station walkable from the Nationals, or is one closer etc.
Hmmm, I wonder if I should have done a seperate post here? Chris try not to get too confused See you Sunday:bounce |

Jenz that is a great idea for ferry ride,
Dont go too late cause its nice veiw, although lights may be also good.
No chance of walking...too far.
Ask around those you know , see if they can drop you off at Liverpool station if going that way or Fairfield station if thats their direction.
Alternatively, there is a new Bus Way which runs Liverpool to Parramatta fast bus service (well reasonably fast ), it cuts across Smithfield road (
that is the road the showground is on ) about 600 m South .
It is still a good 15 min walk at the Para end from the Train Station (thats where the bus drops you too ).

The route, I just looked what would be easiest to follow / explain ( less turns etc ).
I live down the Liverpool end but I would travell through many backstreets to get to Fairfield Showground, just too difficult to explain- for me it
avoids all the traffic, others may get lost.:thumb

Fairfield station is a fast 1/2 hr walk from the showgrounds and getting to Parra from fairfield is two trains and a 10 min walk to ferry wharf I am
thinking you will lose alot of Nat's time to get a ferry trip in......oh and the ferry to the city will take 40 mins on the weekend....
Keeping it real !

Alternative :
Take train straight to Milson's Point.
Walk back to Sydney across the Harbour Bridge ( smile at the Anti terrorist Guards ) .
Its an Unreal View. Especially if starting to get dark , With city lights and Sunset contrasts.

Thanks guys Was wondering how long the ferry would take from up that
far.
Am a fast walker so getting to the station not a problem. Have public transport maps so can see Milsons Point. Will get DayTripper Pass, works out
cheaper.
Chris I have maps so can see the route Glen gave, and had noticed Cumberland Hwy thinking it the best way from a map. Can see Polding St and marked
it.
OK found showgrounds on map:thumb
Hey Chris how are you with back seat drivers? Jay and I can call out directions to you:jesus:o
Maybe a strong coffee and study the maps when we meet up
Guys, best way to M5 exiting airport. Is it
Airport Drive-Marsh St - Botany St - Forest Rd - Stony Creek Rd - Georges Rd - M5?
Any tricky turns/intersections Chris should know about? I know what it is like to drive in Sydney and not know the place. So easy to miss a turn, they
can sneak up on you or you are in the wrong lane when they do come up Last
time I drove Sydney I cursed my way Nth out of town:o
p.s. How fast I walk will depend on what bargains I picked up at the swap:bounce

Well it wouldnt be the first time a woman has told me where to go. I'll be fine with that. Just hope you realise that any mistake I make
will be your mistake. I no take the blame for nuffin. :P
Maybe a strong coffee and study the maps when we meet up
dont drink coffee. My caffiene hits come from coke and chocolate. Besides we'll miss all those NOS bargains if we hang around. I'm ok with
the liverpool end, its the airport end I am lost. My map is too old.
Last time I drove Sydney I cursed my way Nth out of town :o
aaah yes. I've done the harbour bridge tour by default too.
p.s. How fast I walk will depend on what bargains I picked up at the swap
You can put heaps of 36hp bits in a kombi, I'll get you to the train or ferry after the show, dont sweat on that one. Just hope the load dont
sink it.

yeah Chris, should check street directory but if you circle the airport - heading east and south , I believe you would get onto eastern distributor
and pass under the runway " you will be Heading West."
Keep to left and turn onto M5 " Towards ....Canberra ."
