I am a leaner dubbers so please bear with my ignorance. In the american hot vw's mag for engines by bernie borgmann that have a full cover of tin and
fan based pulley, what's that about?

They cool better and look more flash than beetle tinware. Not cheap though. The looks bit is the only reason they are in his ads, the americans
always warn against him on their forums for some reason

actually they dont cool better straight off the shelf the need serious modification from the results ive seen. the dtm is the best one off the shelf
for the t4 closely followed by the cali conversion.

I rang Bergmann years ago did not like them at all found them to be a bit arrogant, the americans dont like him cause apparantly he stole the design
of his 911 kit from a german type 4 business Klaus Kafer Tuning.
This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

If you go to Jake Raby's site, he has been experimenting with cooling of the air cooling to the VW engine for a number of years.
His figures show that while he was building a system to surpass all other types of cooling fan house systems, it took ages for him to improve on the
STANDARD VW fan housing and tin wear..!!!!!
The Porsche style wasn't anywhere near the cooling efficiency of the Standard VW fan housing and tin wear on the flat 4 configeration.
It's a very interesting read.!
Mind you the Porsche style does look the goods!

I think it also depends if you have a 5 blade or 11 blade fan.
Bernie Bergmann also uses a Golf alternator modified rather than the Porsche one
I know one 2.7 Type 4 that runs at 80C after an hour or 2 on the track
All depends what you do with the oil cooler as it obviously wont fit the stock position with the shroud.
And yes - they do look the part
Futue te ipsum!!!
