010 Automatic
Came across this while researching for my project. 010 auto set up for drag racing, must have been mid engined as the diff section has been flipped
180 degrees.

I saw that a few days ago too, looks like a pretty awesome set-up. Are these autos still 3 speed or 4?

I think that it may be just sitting in that ute upside down.
But it does look like it has been cut from a dragster, but does all the valve body needs to be in oil or only the pump suction screen??
Apparently the hollow pinion shaft is the weak link at about 400hp. It would be torque limited, but the Yanks always limit everything with a HP
figure.
It is hollow because the pump shaft and input to the shaft for the actual auto run inside the pinion shaft.

That probably is the way it sits in the car because the dipstick is sticking up?

Yes,that's the way it sits in the car.I had some email contact a couple of years ago with the bloke who did the work on it.He had a lot of issues
with oiling passages when the diff housing was flipped on the auto.Way too much work.It had a 4 cyl. water pumper on it,which went back into a front
engined VW car of some sort.I have an auto like that one with a sump on the diff section-but my shift lever is on the opposite side.I am still keen to
explore making an auto suitable to fit into my drag car.

I'd hate to think how much that diff housing costs!

Check out the size of the drive flanges
