Where do 70's Kombi's rust? Where do I need to look when buying?
I have never owned a Kombi so I have no idea where they rust, so is there any tips on finding the secret cancer spots?
The Kombi is a 1600, so I guess it is an early 70's model.
I know how to look for the obvious area's just needing to know if they are proned to rust in the 'not so obvious areas'
Cheers
Craigt

look around the rear gutters, push on all the window rubbers and listen for crushing rust sounds, batery tray, lower front section, inside front
wheel arches, pull off the font door cards and look inside and of cause the sills.
and look up into the air scoops towards the rain gutters.

thats most of it, most common i have seen;
sills'
where the sills meet in the wheel arches,
front steps,
drivers side front floor
rear floor just behind bulkhead,
curved section under the windscreen (especially in the corners),
just above front bumper,
hidden behind and below rear bumper,
front door bottoms,
occasionally just below taillights
