Paint via TAFE?
Posted this question in the newbie forum but I figure it's worthwhile asking here too:
My grandfather in Perth has been restoring cars for ages, and apparently when he needs to get paintwork done he goes through a TAFE to get it done
relatively cheaply. I'm looking to fix up my current car in order to sell it and fund a rolling restoration of an L bug, and I'll need to get a
bonnet respray done somehow before I sell. Since I'm on a student budget, relative cheapness (or any other kind of cheapness, for that matter) is a
good thing. Has anyone managed to organise to get paintwork done at a TAFE before? Any tips on how to arrange it? I live in Melbourne, so I can't
take advantage of the contacts my grandfather probably has over in Perth... Melbourne-specific advice would be much appreciated; any info will help
though.
Thanks.

nice idea to get something done for basically nothing, but people doing the course, teachers, friends have always got cars to do, its almost
impossible to get something done by the school itself.

Better still, GIVE them a case of beer..
MY mate has his Holden Caprice V8 painted in two-pack in 1990 or 91 for just the cost of materials. Looked stunning and better than many $5000 jobs -
a lot of $ back then,
But his dad was a TAFE plumbing teacher...

I am telling ya, unless your father or brother works at the Tafe, you are dreaming, how do I know.....been there tried that. But hey try anyway. The
teachers have mates lined up to get work done not to mention the students, but I am sure they will paint ur car instead for a case of beer.:repuke

thanks for all the help guys.
trying to find some time to get it organised; flat out at the moment. richmond would be very handy since i work there, but i'll give dandenong a
call first - thanks heaps for the contact, killakornkobb!
hopefully i can arrange something. i mean, maybe it's kind of a long shot - but it's nice to know that it's not impossible.
