What was your first car?

We all have a connection with the humble Volksy in some way, but what did you first get behind the wheel of?, and how much $$$ was it?

I will kick it off, 1965 Ford XP Panelvan. Cost$1000.
Kept braking down all the time so I virtually gave it away. Now I kick myself everyday.

1971 volkswagen beetle is the first car for me to OWN.

first one i am driving around is a 1983 mitsubishi L200 4wd UTe, been in the family since brand new.

done 200,000 original k's and had an engine rebuild in that time too.

needs to be tidied up though, other than that its excellent.

My first car was my grandfathers notch (1965). I still drive it everyday (11 years later). He garaged it in 1986 until I got her back on the road in 1995. Still all origional except the engine which died when it sucked a valve at 70mph and went an almighty BANG!
Second car was a 1964 XM Falcon (I still have it in the garage). I have owned 3 motorbikes as well (Honda 250custom), 1997 Harley Davidson Sprotster (Written off in accident Aust. Day this year), I now ride a 2000 Harley Davidson sporster custom.

My first car was Harriett my 1974 L Bug Convertible! She was awesome! Loved getting the girls together for a cruise to the beach in her with the roof down and the tunes cranked! We had a ball in her, the truckies seemed to love her too! ;)

the first cars i owned were a 67 beetle and the very very rusty remains of a 56/57, that i picked up on the same day. neither made it onto the road....

my real first car (ie registered) was a beige 56 beetle with a green interior... $3000 bought me this 3 owner 1 exterior respray car complete with 3 retreaded mismatched crossplys, 1 retreaded radial and a tired replacement 36hp. (plus lots of rust hidden in the sills etc)

i drove it like it was a race car and i was a race driver. unfortunatly neither was even close to being true, as a guardrail in the blue mountains could attest to...
i loved that car so much and literally cried after i killed my baby.

i still have his remains but doubt i'll ever put in the effort to fix him (Lots of rust plus bad repairs to the accident damage etc).

a 1965 HD Holden which I bought from my father for $1000 in 1981 . It was 100% original and rust free . He said dont modify it , just leave it the way it is .
But like any 16 year old that knows better than their parents , it got lowered , sports exhaust , wide mags , worked engine , tripple stromberg carbs , syncro 3-speed gearbox and floor shifter ...... just a few enhancements !!
Would do 82mph in 2nd gear and 117mph in 3rd .

My first motor vehicle was a 1953 Lambretta Model D125 scooter. My first car was a 1948 Morris 8 tourer. My second car was a 1958 VW Beetle registration number ULA 691. Since then after lots of other cars, including a 1968 Beetle, I have had a VW based dune buggy, I'm building a 1968 semi auto pan based Manx SR and I now own a Herbified 1973 Beetle.

Believe it or not, a CA Bedford.
Mine was a panel van, didn't have the side windows.

Cost me the princely sum of $100 with 8 months rego, mind, my fortnightly wage at the time was $34, so it was still a lot of money.

25 horse Vauxhall engine with a top speed of 40mph down hill with a tailwind.

Got it from the bakery next door to the servo I worked at.
All 3 are long gone.

Did the sunroof thing put mags on it and gave it a crazy paintjob. Sold it for $300 to finish my Celica rally car 2 years later.Should have kept it and left it standard. 76 galant wagon, cost me $1050 and it was all bad, until the 2l sigma engine went in, then it went a lot better. It got t boned about 10 years back when I pulled out from a driveway on a wet night. I pulled out coz a car was illegally parked next to the driveway, that illegally parked car belonged to my boss. :td:

Next car I bought was an uregistered 62 beetle. I don't think I need to tell you what happened to that, you can see what's left of it in my avatar.:smirk:

1970 Datsun 1600. Me and the old man built it up from a good, stock original to a real weapon over the course of a year or two.

Loved that car, and am thinking of adding another to the stable one day soon (after a type3 notch).

My fisrt car was a pretty shitty honey brown 1970 semi auto bug. It was my 14th birthday present, cost my parents a whole $200. Its floor was buggered and the inside panel under the back window was gone but it drove fairly well. I miss that poor old girl.
