Top 3 VW related tools you own?
I've just been thinking, I love my tools. What are your top 3 rated tools. They need to be related to VWs in some way. If it's an odd tool post a
pic.:thumb
Here I go...
1. Shed, having been without one, I cherish my shed now. 4x12 metres of noisy, dirty paradise.
2. Esab MIG welder, single best and most expensive tool I ever bought. Also saved me lot's cash doing things myself instead of
paying others.
3. Bosch 4.5 inch angle grinder, this goes hand in hand with my welder. mmmm, grindage.
BTW, if you are industrially challenged (Ie. untrained in tooling), don't hold back, you might like to include your fave polishing cloth or
something.

My 'Top three tools' would be:
* The axle nut socket and 3/4 inch drive breaker bar to suit.
* My feeler guages/spanner/blade screwdriver to adjust the valve clearances.
* My FBH.
Others would include:
A set of Snap-on spanners (Metric).
M8 1/2 inch drive socket (The 12 spline inhead socket).
And the trusty old Milo Can... For those monthly oil changes.

For 3 only :
trolley jacks/jack stands/ and creeper to lay on..
I just bought My cv joint tool as I have two cv joints with the splines and two with allen key heads....
17mm open end ring spanner for taking the engine out..
I have a set of VBW metric ring spanners [german]
and a set of Dowidat sockets... plus about 20 extra metric sockets. Dowidat 1/2" breaker bar, short 90 degree bar, 2 x dowidat 1/2 rachets plus
many 3/8 drive tool sets...
200ft lb torque wrench 3/4 drive and breaker bar.
a lot of different universal type socket drives...
Unbreako Allen Keys metric..
At the moment I'm looking for a set of New Metric open end/ring spanners in a plastic wrap... I bought last year at a swap meet....?

I am changing it too often, but that's just because I want to keep it running clean until Valla's over. Then it's out for a rebuild!

- my especially bent tappet cover bail putter onerer
- M9 x 1.25 Helicoil kit for fixing kombi exhaust studs
- 8mm tube spanner for removing kombi tailight housings
top 10 tools i'd love but dont have..
1. hoist
2. gearbox drain plug spanner
3. pump to put oil in the hole left by 2
4. compressor and accessories
5. magnetic spark plug socket
6. a decent grease gun
7. a maid to clean up the shed
8. a detective to find all the things I cant find because I dont have 7
9. trolley jack with 150mm more lift
10. a fatter wallet or a VW that doesnt need any of the above.

My Torque-Meister axle and flywheel nut remover and do-er-upper tool.
Formula Vees like to loosen their axle nuts.
Flywheels can be a prick to get off. Axlenut can be nigh on impossible when the grubby old gearbox is found in the bush and the axle nut is rusted
on.
And both can be an issue to get done up tight easily.
Ive been down that idiotic road of freakin great breaker bars, big sockets, frikken lengths of steel pipe, big hammers and trying to sprag the
flywheel/drum/wheel.
Bah! What a complete wank.
This thing is a godsend. Best 50 bucks I ever spent.

Gotta got the clutch alignment tool aswell!!
Followed by pro tappet adjusting tool(Hollow hex tube spanner with handle offset for screwdriver)
And the almighty FLYWHEEL LOCK i love that thing.
Yeh the mig and big arse trolley jack are cool to but the above have gotta top my vw tool list

There is no way You can even think of working on A VW with only 3 favorite tools....
I have a tool to pull just about everything apart....
here are the 17mm spanners....
17mm open ended flat....17mm ring spanner....
17mm angled ring spanner.....
17mm more angled ring spanner.....
17mm short open ended flat.... 14mm other end
17mm long open ended flat .... 17mm ring spanner
and Not Forgetting the Large Shifting spanner.... lol..

Clutch aligning tool???
Since the 1970's I have used a length of stainless steel bar and electricians insulation tape. You build the tape up on the end to fit spiggot then
slide clutch plate on and mark where it sits in relation to the length of bar then take out and build up tape for clutch centre. Has worked on many
different brands of cars over the years. My first version of this tool was a length of wooden dowelling.

I never said you were only allowed to use three. I think we all know we'd use large hammers and shifters if that were the case. I just wanted to know
your 3 FAVOURITE tools.
