I havea similar cattledog from Canopy Industries up here in Sydney. The Flash kits of Trims were made by Tilli Products and the brochure shows all types of cars Holdens fords Valiants and of course VWs.

My Scanner is broken so have had time to scan it n post

I'm reasonable sure my Baja was once fitted with one of those flash kits like the one on the bottom Beetle in the file "flash3.jpg" - the holes certainly look like they would like up with that kit ... any chance of a close up/bigger pic of that one?

That must have been the kit that was once fitted to my Baja as the holes appear to line up with that one - anyone seen one fitted to a car recently?

I just read the 'blah' on the side of the advert - did I mis-understand it or is the coloured part of the flash an actual panel (I always thought that the other colour was painted on).

You could have an anodised aluminium insert. Don't see them too often these days, but they're out there. Most were painted in.

I have a few with inserts also had these ones which are NOS ones i got a few years back.To good to fit to a car, would have to have a nice car i would think!
