I'm sure there is quiet a few out there that have both miles and km's at the same time on their speedo guages. I got it on mine. But everyone elses i have seen, so far have been miles. I haven't taken that much notice of everyones, but from memory, yeah.

so wat ya got?

Mine is just km. The ones with both is most likely just a sticker with km stuck onto a mph speedo.

I am lucky enough to have a 1.54 speedo in miles and another in Kms, change over when ever I want.

Some cars have M, some Km, some a mix of both - factory (Us and Canada cars etc) and aftermarket (sticker on the speedo face)

Most European cars had kmh speedos....
1976 Beetles had both in Australia...

My 68 speedo was in miles....
I have bought a KMH speedo off ebay....
cost Me a packet too....
since seen them fairly cheap....
1st one i bought didn't have the fuel gauge...
It was identical to mine except for that....
My Son has it in his 56 Beetle now...

so there are thousands of KMH speedos in Europe and thousands of MPH speedos in old British Empire countries plus north and south america....
US had both on their late 70s beetles....

Im same, I've got a mph with a sticker....which needs replacing

And I also want another sticker for the 61 as I have no idea what speed is what...im so used to looking down and just seeing the kpm sticker in my other bug.

And I'd hate to find it all out 'cause i was speeding.

DOH!

70 is just over 110km/h and fast enough for a low pressured fat tyred swb buggy

But you go faster with one in kmh. You are doing 60 not 35 around town.:P

But seriously, all of ours are kmh only. I converted the 2 beetle ones with new faces from a superbug speedo and got an NOS one for the ghia.

An easy conversion from kmh to mph is this.

For speed signs in kmh (eg 60) drop the "0" and multiply by 6.

Therefore 60kph = 36mph

80kph = 48mph, 100kph = 60mph.
There is a small safety margin in this as well, as the real conversion is 6.2.

Miles per hour for me. You get the hang of doing the conversion in you head after a while. My motorbike is the only vehicle I have ever owned that has had a kmph speedo. It is also the only vehicle I have owned that wasn't built in the 60's.

Stick yer foot flat to the boards. The cops will be happy to do the conversion for you! (And charge a huge fee!!!):vader
