 My 1955 & 1962 Split Busses

Hi All,
tried to send a U2U to someone, but can't until I post 5 pictures.....so here goes.

These are my new busses.

Nev is a 55, fully restored, running 68 Bay running gear, L-Bug gearbox, Indian IRS with titanium trailing arms. Twin carb, single port 1600, he is a
rocket.
He has a personalised plate that reads "KOMBI".

This is Wanda. Watch out for her, she may well be appearring on an ad very soon.
1600 single port, rest is standard, but fully rebuilt.
I have just installed some "Safaris" & new mirrors from Classic VW Pacific & it looks great.

Regards,
Rob J

Makes me want to go out to the shed and get cracking on my 23 window!! Better finish the 15 window first though. Hope my ones turn out as nice as
yours. They look great.

I love the green. My 15 window is Aqua blue with white roof and the 23 will be sealing wax red with grey roof

Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback. I love my busses.
Straight up though, I just want to make it clear I did not build these (Although I can & have restored many cars). I bought them as is & have only
done minor improvements to each bus. Nev has had a roof respray & Wanda has had Safaris, mirrors, complete new braking system & is about to get a full
on interior do up (Covered panels etc), then a Deluxe trim, with a set of Sprintstars.

Nev was a Coober Pedy bus & had Safaris fitted from factory. Very dry area, so rust was minimal, but he carried ore around, so was dented up. A fella
called Shane took over 5 years to painstakingly restore him with many NOS items to this condition. He is excellent. Then, it was sold to a guy called
Neville in VIC, who pulled out the IRS & found that the trailing arm on the drivers side was stuffed. Indian Automotive then fixed it, replacing it
with a pair of Titanium arms (Not 100% sure if that is a brand name, or it is actually titanium??).

Wanda was also a complete, but rolling shell. Amazingly, this bus is actually 99.9% OG steel. The onlt rust this bus had, was a 5 inch length under on
of the seats. This was patched. The car has been stripped down to nothing & rebuilt. Great bus. It was the feature car in VWMA issue 2.

I am on the lookout for one more bus. It has to be the ducks guts to top these 2, but that is what I am after. A Samba (21 or 23), or a very special
13 or 15 window. Went for a search today & found a Split Dormobile & a windowless panel split. Great day I had!

Here is my weebsite if you wantr to see a couple more picctures & see what I do.

Hey Bruce.
the bus I was looking at, is still an option, but to be honest, I want the guy building it to keep it!
I am looking at spending some good $$ & I want something REAL special. A Samba would be exactly what I need for my business. Imagine rolling that roof
back & just cruising? There is one in the US I like, but it is of course, LHD. Bit of a hassle to change it over & the exchange rate still sucks a
bit.

I will add the DSK link to my site. Just got to remember how I did it last time.

Rob J

p.s. Interested to hear you idea.

Hi,
I recently fitted a set of Creative Safaris to the 62 & have a step-by-step thread on the KombiClub forum, if anyone would like to see how I did it.
By no means an expert, it was a excellent learning curve & having looked a heaps of other sites & peoples effortss to install them, it was mostly pain
free.

Hi Josie,
I think I know the one. Wide rims? Haven't seen it for awhile though. I am trying to convince my Wife a little Notch or a Type 3 wagon would be
really handy about the place. No go, she can see right through me.....
Keep an eye out on TV for the 62. You will be seeing it everywhere before too long!! Got a great contract with it. Can't say anymore......

No probs, Damian.
Your truck is damn cool.
