how funny - hood jax
Today was the first day that I have driven my dub with hood jax, just as I was driving out of our workshop which is attached to a Caltex servo a male
in a ute was pointing at my dub I didn't know why. So I opened my window and he said that my boot was open. I bet he though I was just a stupid
woman but he would of felt stupid as I said yes it's suppose to be to cool my motor and gave him a wink. He then said ok with a silly look on his
face. I though it was very funny lol.:sandrine
Can't wait to see how it goes now on my run to Valla tomorrow with the guys. One more sleepl
ps has anyone else had this happen to them I'm wondering?

Yes, this drop represents about 10-15% cooler engine temps (depending on the combo etc). It also allows the engine bay area to have a lower ambient
temp which helps with lower air intake temps which = more potential HP.
VWCOOL has the design patent and can sell direct.
Installation is very simple.:thumb

Hi Rob,
they make a world of difference....
I couldn't touch most things in My engine bay after a run because everything was so hot...
My hood standoffs have the deck lid only open approx 3 inches
or 75mm so when You are behind Me it doesn't even look open... and I can still lock My lid...
Now i can touch anything... massive difference...
I'd recommend it to everyone....

have had police in brisbane pull me on numerous occassions for having hoodjax or decklid standoffs.
one kind female officer made me explain their purpose, how long it took me to install them, what i meant exactly by an aircooled engine etc.
comes with the territory i guess

Here's the blurb:
Hoodjax is a decklid stand-off device for Beetles (all years) that allows the top of the engine lid to be propped open, letting in plenty of fresh
cool air for maximum engine cooling and performance. Thanks to the use of quick-release R-clips, Hoodjax is quickly and easily removed for security
and for driving/parking in cold or rainy weather, or for ‘stock’ appearance. Ideal for rats or sleepers! Hoodjax is especially ideal for pre-1971
with no engine lid vents.
Hoodjax has been proven over the last decade to assist the cooling of big bore, stroker and turbo engined Beetles. Hoodjax helps deliver maximum power
and reduces the 'hot idle' stumbles caused by fuel vaporisation - especially in summer.
Installation is DIY and takes around 15 minutes for initial fitting – after that, Hoodjax can be removed in seconds - in your driveway or by the
roadside. Installation requires two 10mm holes to be drilled in your engine lid’s hinge C-brackets, plus the use of some other simple hand tools.
Instructions are provided. A secondary benefit is that your engine lid is now quickly removable for easy engine bay access during servicing.
Cost is $80. Payment (for now, anyway) is via cheque or internet deposit. Postage and packaging is an additional $10-15, depending on your location.

Had a Hoody on brother's ex-girlfriend's standard 1500 single-carb Beetle (well, she wasn't an ex- at the time!) and I reckon it gave it a bit of a
performance 'edge'
But I'm a bit biassed!
