Dumb question re: early and late type 3's
Hey guys,
I have a dumb question...can I make a late type 3 notch look like an early one by boltiong on early guards, and replacing the front and rear valances
on the later car with those from an early one? Also will change bumpers etc.
Or are the inner guards and leading edge where the bonnet and boot mounts totally different also?
This is one option..the other is to split the body and pan and do the swap and neccessary engine mount mods.
Any advice owuld be appreciated.
Cheers,
Steve

Just find a 69 model. Best of both worlds. Late running gear with the much better looking front (and rear).

I have a picture some where or was it in a mag... you can only place the early rear side panels on a late notch.
Also, shave of the late model pig nose bonnet, to give it a nice rounded early look.

Late front guards are longerRear different lights. The easy way is to buy a pre 69 body.Though I suppose anything is possible with time.

yeah there are a few with early rear quarters, but the fronts won't go on, because the strip under the windscreen, has different sized/proportioned
curves on each side, where the top corners of the front guards meet (where they all rust!).
Worth doing the rear quarters though. |
